What you need to know:
When it comes to THL Direct Loans we can spare you some time reading this review and give you our first impressions of this particular lender summed up in one succinct phrase: “do not apply”. The entire process is cumbersome, they do not display their anywhere on their website and it took us around two minutes to actually find out how to use their loans calculator (it’s non-responsive to input).
The same day transfer charge is £25 – why would you want to pay this? Well, you wouldn’t – Speed-E-Loans, a far superior service, offers a same day transfer charge of £4.95. Clicking on the terms and condition section THL needlessly brings up a PDF document which again can take some time to load. Their charges are also relatively high compared to their competitors – at £30 per £100 borrowed and with a £25 same day transfer charge you can find much better alternative elsewhere.
Their application page is not SSL encrypted (this means third parties may be able to view you data when you send it via THL’s application form). The do however display their consumer credit license number at the bottom of each page on their website and they do appear to be a legitimate lender.
Criteria:
THL do not accept applications from anyone under the age of 21 years old – anyone under the age of 21 years old will need to find an alternative (please browse the alternative reviews on Quick Payday Loans). You must have a valid UK Bank Account and a debit card linked to that account. You must also earn over £900 per month after tax and be in full-time employment.
Customer Service and Complaints:
Surprisingly we have seen some positive feedback from customers of THL but we have also seen some corresponding negative feedback from people complaining about irregular withdrawals from their bank accounts and also the inaccessibility of their customer services team.
